TWIN PEAKS, San Francisco — San Francisco Recreation and Parks instructs motorists visiting Twin Peaks to use the gate from Portola Drive rather than the Burnett Avenue entrance, which remains closed to vehicles.
The park’s published facility listing identifies the site at 501 Twin Peaks Boulevard and posts general park hours from 5 a.m. to midnight. Visitors seeking the Christmas Tree Point overlook can still reach the area using permitted routes, but trail restrictions associated with the promenade construction may affect where people can walk or cycle. Gate and parking arrangements may differ from older sightseeing maps.
The closure of the Burnett vehicle gate should not be confused with a blanket closure of every trail or all access to the overlook. Driving, walking and biking rules are not interchangeable; visitors should follow signs and detours for their mode of travel.
What residents and visitors should know
Plan visits around current park alerts and changing weather. High winds, fog and limited parking can affect access, and stopping a vehicle on a narrow roadway to take photographs is unsafe.
