TWIN PEAKS, San Francisco — The city’s September 2, 2026 construction update reported a temporary pause in work on the Twin Peaks Promenade after demolition was completed, as officials finalized revised design details and awaited tests of imported soil.
San Francisco Recreation and Parks said the laboratory testing was intended to ensure imported soil was free of pathogens, an important step in a natural area with rare native plants and fragile habitat. The contractor was scheduled to return September 8 and install stronger perimeter fencing and another security camera.
The published schedule reported a planned remobilization, but it is not a live daily confirmation that crews have completed every task by November. The city’s overall park project remained in construction and access restrictions may continue near the closed eastern roadway.
What residents and visitors should know
Visitors should follow current signs, avoid entering fenced work zones and check subsequent department updates before using trails. The September bulletin describes design, soil and access issues separately from ordinary weather-related park closures.
