TWIN PEAKS, San Francisco — The planned Twin Peaks Promenade would turn part of a former vehicle route into two parallel paths for different users, according to San Francisco Recreation and Parks.
The project design includes one smooth paved path suitable for wheelchairs, strollers, bicycles and small wheeled devices, and a second natural-surface route for walking or jogging. Seating areas, scenic overlooks, bicycle racks and native plantings are also planned. The city’s website lists a mid-2027 target opening after construction that began in May 2026.
These amenities are prospective design elements, not an assertion that the finished route is currently open. The construction zone and some connector paths may be inaccessible while crews work. Accessibility may differ from the broader steep natural trail network on the hills.
What residents and visitors should know
Residents can review the official project map and current closure notices before planning visits. The promenade aims to improve access without converting the entire surrounding natural area into a paved recreation facility.
